“We don't read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is full of passion.” ― N.H. Kleinbaum, Dead Poets Society
Calling all critical thinkers with opinions! Thoughts! Feelings! the PR Poet is hosting a free—donation-based creative writing workshop at brew coffee lab in park ridge this fall.
The theme for this series is MAKE MISTAKES & HAVE FUN. Each week, we will read poems and write about times we have “made mistakes” and turned them into something more fun and creative than we ever could have imagined. It’s about celebrating the bravery of being human, even if our work is not a masterpiece.
Attendees will receive a copy of Stephanie’s latest poetry zine, “The urge to grow out of things,” and selected works from MAKE MISTAKES & HAVE FUN will be considered for our forthcoming editorial project.
Workshop Scope & Sequence: 9/7-9/21
5:30-6:00 - intros + poetry reading
6:00-6:30 - prompts and writing time
6:30-7:00 - read and response
This is an in-person workshop and there are ten spots open per week. When you register, please indicate which dates you will attend. This workshop is free/donation-based and open to the public. If you have any questions, please email Stephanie Held-Rutzen at stephanie@theprpoet.com.
