the PR Poet is hosting a free/donation-based poetry workshop at October Cafe in Old Norwood Park!
The theme for this series is inspired by Sylvia Plath’s “Poppies in October.” Each week we will be making room to write about and discuss both the melancholy and beauty that comes with the changing of seasons.
You don't have to be a professional writer by any means! This space is for learning and growing together. I am very strict about creating an environment of kindness, curiosity, and suspended judgment! :) Please just bring a pen and notebook.
Attendees will receive a copy of my latest poetry zine, “The urge to grow out of things,” and selected works from “Poppies in October” will be considered for our forthcoming editorial project. Come learn, connect, and discover new parts of yourself.
Workshop Scope & Sequence: 10/4, 10/11, 10/25
3:00-3:30 - intros + poetry reading
3:30-4:00 - prompts and writing time
4:00-4:30 - read and response
